I asked colleagues what themes were worth exploring. One said: “Anxiety seems big right now—look at that.”
Our brains don’t like constant change. Under rapid change, we narrow our focus and try to control events—often unconsciously. It’s a natural threat response.
Resilience requires rewiring that response: shifting attention from outer chaos to inner stillness. This is the move from doing to being. Without space to be, we create anxiety.
Zen masters teach meditation that begins with the breath, then lets go of focus entirely—just sitting. Even a few moments like this take us out of running and into presence.
Being will feel strange at first. Start small: three long outbreaths, sitting silently outside, or leaving your phone behind on a walk.
We can’t control the world, but we can choose the spaces we create. This weekend, try simply being.
